Installing DIMMs
1. Remove the system front bezel and top cover as described earlier in this
chapter.

Ensure the server is powered down and the ac cable is disconnected.

CAUTION
Observe static precautions. Use an antistatic wrist strap.
Hold DIMMs only by their edges.
3. Holding the DIMM module only by the edges, remove it from its antistatic
package.
4.
Position the DIMM so that the two notches in the bottom edge of the DIMM
align with the keyed socket. See Figure 4-20.

5. Insert the bottom edge of the DIMM into the socket, and press down firmly
on the DIMM until it seats correctly.
6.
Gently push the plastic ejector levers on the socket ends to the upright
position.
7. Repeat the steps to install each additional DIMM.
8. Replace the top cover.
9. Plug in the server power cord, and power on the server.
10. Slide the server into the system rack and secure it to the rack.
11.
Install and secure the front bezel following procedures described earlier in
this chapter.
