System Cabling   A-5

Optional Configuration

Figure A-2 illustrates the optional system configuration. This system includes four hot-
swap hard disk drive bays and a bay dedicated to the installation of a SCSI removable
media device. Referring to the Figure A-2, a 68-pin Ultra-160/M SCSI interface cable
(D) is connected to the SCSI connector (E) on the system board. This cable connects to
the rear of the hard disk drive's SCSI backplane (A). Depending on your system
configuration up to a maximum of four hot-swappable hard disk drives may be
connected to the SCSI backplane in this configuration.

The IDE interface cable (J) is connected to the IDE connector (I) towards the middle of
the system board. This cable connects to the rear of the internally mounted CD-ROM
drive (K).

One optional internally mounted SCSI removable media device (H) may be connected
to the SCSI controller connector (F). When the optional removable media device is
installed in your system, a maximum of four hot-swappable hard disk drives may be
included in this configuration.
