1.
Remove the system front bezel and top cover as described earlier in this
chapter.
2.
Ensure the server is powered down and the ac cable is disconnected.
3.
If present, remove the protective plastic cover located over the top of the
lithium battery.
4.
Insert the tip of a small flat-bladed screwdriver, or equivalent, under the
plastic tab on the San-in plastic retainer. See Figure 4-5.
5.
Gently push down on the screwdriver to lift the battery.
6.
Remove the battery from its socket.
7.
Dispose of the battery according to local ordinance.
8.
Remove the new lithium battery from its package, and, being careful to
observe the correct polarity, insert it in the battery socket with the + sign
facing up.
9.
If applicable, reinstall the plastic cover on the lithium battery socket.
10.
Replace the top cover.
11.
Plug in the server power cord, and power on the server.
12.
Run the BIOS Setup to restore the configuration settings to the real-time
clock.
13.
Slide the server into the system rack and secure it to the rack.
14.
Install and secure the front bezel following procedures described earlier in
this chapter.
