4.4.13 Cascade Protocol Settings
You can connect one NCB-E boiler with up to 15 Navien water
heaters, using the Ready-Link communication cables. Select the
NCB-E series combination boiler in the cascade system as the
master unit, and then connect the water heaters to it as slave units.
Before making any connections, ensure that the power is turned
off to all the units.
For NPE units, connect the Ready-Link cables to the J6 port of the
master unit and to the J6 port of the slave water heaters (on the
right side of the front panel):

NOTE
For NR/NP units, connect the Ready-Link cable to the CN9 port
on the main PCB.
Cascade protocol may be set for 2 different communication speeds
according to the type of water heater units installed in the system.
Refer to “Parameter setting: (T) Setting the Cascade Protocol” on
page 18 and match the communication settings accordingly.

(a) NPE
Use this setting when all the slave units are
NPE water heaters.
(b) NR/NP
Use this setting when the slave units consist of
NR/NP water heaters, or a combination of NPE
and NR/NP water heaters.
4.4.12 Resetting the Boiler (Factory Reset)
If an error message appears, you can try resetting the boiler to
resolve the problem. To reset the boiler, press the Reset button.
MODE
If resetting the boiler does not solve the problem, refer to the
Troubleshooting section of this manual or contact Technical
Support at 1-800-519-8794.
1. Pressing the [Diag[Plus]+[Reset]+[Power] buttons
at <Power Off mode> for more than 5 seconds will initialize
the system to its factory reset and the system will convert its
mode to <Normal Operating mode> after displaying ‘INIT’ on
Segments for 5 seconds.

3. For Fahrenheit (°F): Supply water temperature is to be set
at 140°F, Return water temperature is to be set at 120°F and
Temperature of hot water is to be set at 120°F.
4. For Celsius (°C): Supply water temperature is to be set at 60°C,
Return water temperature is to be set at 50°C and hot water
temperature is to be set at 50°C.
