9. See Figure 3.4 on page 3-10 . Remove the shipping bracket on the top of the output cabinet
(cabinet 3) that was used to secure variable capacitor C13 (inside the cabinet) for shipping.
Discard the packing plate and associated tyraps.
10. Obtain three “Top Joiner Plates” (207-8274-01) that were packed in the ancillary crate.
Attach the three top joiner plates between the tops of the interfacing cabinets (see Figure 3.4
on page 3-10 ) using 16 M5 screws.
11. Remove the packing plates in the side cabinet (cabinet 4) that were used to secure the
capacitor bank for shipping (see Figure 3.7 on page 3-13 ).
12. Tighten the cabinet bonding hardware installed in Step 4 .
13. Obtain the “Connector Pipe Assembly” (Nautel Part # 194-6298-02), which is bubble-
wrapped inside the transmitter. Install the connector pipe assembly (see Figure 3.6 on page
3-12 ) between cabinets 2 and 3. Torque securing nuts to 60 in-lb (6.8 N-m).
14. Obtain the “Filter Tube Assembly” (207-8251-06) that was packed in the ancillary crate.
Install the filter tube assembly (see Figure 3.7 on page 3-13 ) between cabinets 3 and 4, using
hardware that was left on the connection points. Tighten hardware.
15. See Figure 3.6 on page 3-12 . In the control cabinet (cabinet 1), cut tyraps to free and unwrap
the copper straps from inductors RK1-L7 and RK1-L8. Reattach the straps to the aluminum
plate in the middle of the left filter opening in cabinet 2 using supplied hardware. Ensure
proper hardware orientation as shown in Figure 3.6 on page 3-12 . Torque the strap hardware
to 137 in-lb (15 N-m). Arrange or form the straps so that they do not touch inductors RK1-
L7 or RK1-L8 or come within 0.5 inches (1.25 cm) of any ground potential point.
16. Obtain the “NX400 Output Plate” (207-8246-02) that was packed in the ancillary crate.
Carefully install the output plate (see Figure 3.7 on page 3-13 ) between cabinets 3 and 4,
using hardware that was left on the various connection points. Note that part of the spark
gap assembly is mounted on one end of the output plate assembly. Torque the hardware for
the connector pipe in cabinet 3 to 93 in-lb (10.4 N-m). Torque the hardware for the three
adjacent connections in cabinet 4 to 137 in-lb (15 N-m). Tighten remaining connecting
hardware.
17. Locate and unpack the “NX400 Internal Assembly” items (see Figure 3.5 on page 3-11 )
from the ancillary crate, including eight (8) combiner tubes and two (2) spacers.
18. Remove the two cover plates (Nautel Part # 207-8162) from the sides of the outside cabinets
(four plates total; see Figure 3.5 on page 3-11 ). Retain all securing hardware. It is not
necessary to remove the center cover plate.
