, all the selections listed below are active.
NOTE
: For RDS operation, an external unit or software can send data to the exciter. The exciter
generates the RBDS carrier and injects the data. Nautel supports the strings listed below. The data
format is XX=yyyy.
 RDS Local Echo: select Enabled or Disabled. When Enabled, the exciter RDS port transceiver
will echo all inputs and controls received back to the terminal.
 Data Source: select Internal, Ext. ASCII, Ext. UECP, ASCII Over IP, UECP Over IP.
NOTE
: For ASCII over IP data, for ASCII Over IP data, send RDS information to the IP address of the GV5/
GV3.5, port 7005.
 Injection Level: enter value between 0 and 10% (typically 5%). This level is added to the
composite baseband signal.
 Phase: enter value in degrees.
 Baud Rate: select 75, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600 or
115,200 bps. This selection does not apply to internal data sources.
 PI (programme identification) Code (hex): this unique code is used to identify a broadcast
station. Every station gets assigned a specific code with a country identifying prefix. In the
USA this code is determined by applying a formula to the station's call sign. Additional
information can be found at
www.nrscstandards.org . This selection applies to internal data
sources only.
 PS (programme service) Name: this is simply an eight-character static display that represents
the call letters or station identity name. Most RDS capable receivers display this information
and, if the station is stored in the receiver's presets, will cache this information with the
frequency and other details associated with that preset. This selection applies to internal data
sources only.
 Scrolling Enable/Speed: select Off (disabled), Slow or Fast. Default is Off.
 Scrolling PS Name: if used, enter up to 64 characters for the PS name that will scroll (if
enabled) at the speed selected in the Scrolling Enable/Speed field. This selection applies to
internal data sources only.
 Scrolling Type: select the type of scrolling to be used by the receiver - Word or Character. Word
scrolling displays one word of the Scrolling PS Name at a time. Character scrolling displays
one character of the Scrolling PS Name at a time. The default selection is Word. This selection
applies to internal data sources only.
