Placing the rotor
Carefully insert the rotor in the rotor arm.
By using the spanner, tighten firmly the nut supplied with the rotor.
Once tubes have been placed inside the rotor, put the lid so as the point of the rotor and
the lid match, and tighten manually the screw on the top of the lid, until it is well fixed.
Note: Please be careful to avoid mixing the nuts and lids of the different rotors.
Note: The centrifuge automatically detects the installed rotor. Please, check the rotor
bottom before installation to make sure the magnets that allow the centrifuge to detect
the rotor are in perfect conditions
If you are not using the centrifuge for a long period of time please make sure it is dis-
connected from the net and protected from dust (this way you will avoid accidents and
will extend its working-life).
Model GL-18B
efrigerated Centrifuge
Setting up
Press the on/off switch
(1.4)
to turn the equipment on. Then, proceed with the selection
of the different parameters of the centrifugation protocol
This parameter is related with the time that the rotor needs to reach the pre-selected
speed. The centrifuge is provided with 3 acceleration rate levels, being the level 1 the fas-
test and the level 3 the slowest:
- Select the acceleration level by using the corresponding button
(2.3)
- The selected level will be shown on display
(2.2)
Braking rate
This parameter is related with the time that the rotor needs to stop when spinning at the
selected speed. The centrifuge is provided with 4 braking rate levels, being the level 1 the
fastest and the level 4 the slowest:
- Select the braking level by using the corresponding button
(2.5)
- The selected level will be shown on display
(2.4)
Speed adjustment
The maximum centrifugation speed depends on the rotor used (see Rotor chart). Once
it is operating, the centrifuge automatically detects the rotor, and warns and stops if the
selected speed is not adequate for that rotor.
- Select between rpm o FCR by using the corresponding button
(2.8)
.
- Press the speed adjustment buttons
(2.7)
to select the desired centrifugation
speed. Speed adjustment is performed in steps of 100 rpm or 100 g.
Time adjustment
The centrifuge can operate in periods of time up to 9 h 59 min. For this purpose:
- Select the centrifugation time by using the time adjustment buttons
(2.10
)
- When rotor spins at the selected speed, the timer starts counting down; the
remaining operation time will be shown on display
(2.9)
.
Temperature adjustment
Nahita refrigerated centrifuge 2818 allows centrifugation of samples at low temperatu-
res down to -10 ºC. For this purpose:
- Temperature display
(2.11)
shows the real temperature inside the centrifuge.
- Press the temperature adjustment buttons
(2.12)
to visualize the pre-selected
temperature and to select the desired temperature. 5 seconds alter setting temperature the
real temperature inside the centrifuge will be displayed again.
Note: Please read the point of Pre-cooling function.
