CAUTION: Over-tightening the screws may damage the threading.
NOTICE: GPS Antenna kits are ordered separately.
SLX 5000 is compatible only with the GPS antennas approved by Motorola Solutions.
You are required to weather-proof all the antenna connections. See Weather-Proofing
GPS Antenna Connections on page 27 .

Weather-Proofing GPS Antenna Connections
Weather-proofing all the GPS antenna connections is mandatory.
Procedure:
1 Apply a layer of self-amalgamating tape to the antenna connection.
2 Apply an extra layer of PVC tape over the antenna connection.
Postrequisites: Ensure that the connectors are completely weather-sealed.
NOTICE: RF connectors of the front mount antenna arrive pre-connected. Weather-proofing is
best done at this stage to give easier access to the connectors.

Installing SLX 5000 on a Pole
Prerequisites: Ensure that:
• The back bracket assembly is installed on the main unit. See Installing the Back Bracket Assembly
for SLX 5000 on page 26
• You have the minimum required hardware to install the device. See SLX 5000 Minimum Hardware
Requirements on page 25
Procedure:
1 Determine the location on the pole to install SLX 5000 mounting bracket.
2 Position the mounting bracket on the pole at the required height.
3 Insert the clamp bands in two spots by putting them through the upper and lower slots in the
bracket.
