SYSTEM SETTINGS
File Encryption Key
If the Security Option is enabled then all stored files with patient and configuration information are encrypted with
the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). The File Encryption Key is used to encrypt the patient and
configuration information. If the File Encryption key is modified then all encrypted files are re-encrypted using the
new key. The Encryption Key cannot be blank. The Key can be up to 16 alphanumeric characters. Once the Security
Option is enabled and the stored files are encrypted there is no way to return the stored files to an un-encrypted
state.
If the device is booted and the configuration file is missing, a new configuration file will be generated with the
default configuration settings with the exception of the administrator and technician passwords. The
administrator and technician passwords will be set to random strings unknown to the user. The File Encryption
Key can be used as the administrator password to reset these passwords.
Delete Timeout
ECGs marked for deletion are still maintained in the device’s non-volatile memory until the memory is needed to
store new ECGs. The oldest ECGs are deleted to make room for the newest ECGs. If the local records retention
policy requires ECGs to be removed from memory sooner, this setting can be used to specify the number of days to
keep the ECGs prior to automatic deletion. Set to 0 days to delete the ECGs once they meet the criteria to be
marked for deletion.
Communications Encryption Key
If the Security Option is purchase then the device encrypts its communication with ELI Link to keep sensitive
information private. The transmitted data is encrypted with the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
Leaving the key blank results in the device using the default encryption key built into ELI Link. If the local security
policy requires use of alternate keys, configure the same key in the device and ELI Link. The key can be up to 16
alphanumeric characters.
User Authentication
This setting specifies how the ELI 280 should authenticate individual users.
Off
This turns off user authentication. The ELI 280’s Technician and Administrator passwords
may be used to protect access to orders, stored ECGs, and the configuration settings.
This allows the user to enter a User Name so the device will prepopulate the Technician field
Local
when performing new ECGs, but no authentication of the user is performed against
network credentials from another system. The user must enter the ELI 280’s Technician or
Administrator password to obtain the respective permissions.
Network
This mode authenticates users over the network using Active Directory or LDAP and
determines their permissions according to security group membership as configured in ELI
Link.
NOTE:
The LDAP or Active Directory domain for the user accounts and the security groups that are considered ELI
technicians and administrators are configured in ELI Link
and are not configured or stored on the ELI 280.
