Patient Demographic Query (PDQ)
The ELI 280 can query the EMR for patient demographic information via HL7 A19 using the input of up to three demographic
criteria (ID, First Name, Last Name, or any combination of the three fields) for those institutions performing unordered ECG
tests, or do not have an interface to an electronic ordering system.
The ELI 280 performs a query based on the information input into the search fields. The more specific the information
input into the fields, the narrower the search. It is best practice to input as specific information as possible to return the
most specific result.
The PDQ feature may be enabled and used in combination with DICOM, or in an order-based environment.
Performing a PDQ:
1.
Select
from the real-time ECG display, and then select the
PDQ
button.
2.
Enter the ID, first name, last name, or any combination, then select SYNC.
3.
When a single patient match is found, the ID screen is populated with the demographics of the result,
otherwise all patients matching the search criteria are listed.
4.
Select the appropriate patient from the list if more than one option is available.
5.
Select
Done
to proceed to the real-time ECG display for ECG acquisition.
Performing a PDQ with a barcode scanner:
1.
While on the real-time ECG display, scan the patient barcode. The ELI 280 will automatically search for an
open order downloaded to the device, then it will search the list of ECGs stored on the device for a patient that
matches the field scanned, and if no patient is found, a patient demographic query using the entry scanned is
prompted.
2.
When a single patient match is found, the ID screen is populated with the demographics of the result,
otherwise all patients matching the search criteria are listed.
3.
Select the appropriate patient from the list if more than one option is available.
4.
Select
Done
to proceed to the real-time ECG display for ECG acquisition.
Search Tools
The following are tools to assist in searching for the appropriate patient following a patient demographic query:
Sort the results by
Name
,
ID
,
Location
,
Room
, or
DOB
by a tap on the column header. A second tap will
sort the list in reverse order.
Use the double arrows (
<<
or
>>
) at the right center of the screen to move page by page through the list of
patients. The current/total number of pages is displayed between the double arrows.
NOTE:
The PDQ feature on the ELI 280 may be used when enabled and the interface configured. See the ELI Link
manual for information regarding setup and configuration of the interface.
NOTE:
When no match for a patient is found after a PDQ, the unit will remain in the Transmission Status
screen until the user selects Done.
