Chapter 7: Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Chart
If you experience a problem during operation of the SkanWasher 300 and
don’t know how to resolve it, the following table may prove helpful. Table 2
below lists problems and possible resolutions. For problems not listed here, or
if the listed resolution does not fix the problem, please call the Technical Sup-
port department at Molecular Devices (outside the U.S. and Canada, please
contact your local representative for assistance).

No power to instru-
ment; instrument will
not turn on

Check that power cord is plugged in.

Check power supply.
z
Check voltage selection switch.
z
Check fuses (Consult Chapter 2: Installation ).
Air in lines Prime lines: increase air pressure to 0.5 bar, then
press
[Rinse]
and
[Start]
.
Uneven aspiration
z
Clean probes.
z
Check spacing between ends of probes and bot-
tom of wells.
z
Adjust microplate alignment if indicated (see
page 33).
Coating in wells is
damaged after wash.
z
Reduce peak vacuum with the regulator on the
vacuum pump.
z
Increase the aspirate times to keep low residual
volumes in the well.
z
Adjust aspiration probe height in wells. Keep
away from the bottom of the wells.
Dripping from aspira-
tion probes
z
Increase aspiration time.
z
Check valves.
