Do not open or remove the Novodiag® Instrument covers.
Do not use cable extenders to increase cable length but only the power strip delivered with the
instrument(s).
Disconnect the Novodiag® Instrument from the power supply before cleaning.
The Novodiag® Instrument and the Touchscreen Computer must be connected to different power
sockets. If possible, use a safe power line for the Novodiag® instrument. In case of instrument stack, use
only the power strip delivered with the Novodiag® Instrument and connect it directly to the safe power
outlet.
9.2.2.
Biological hazards
WARNING!
Even if the Novodiag® System is not itself a biohazard, the use of biological samples can expose you
to a risk of infection.
Treat any biological specimen as potentially infectious and handle them with appropriate precautions.
Wear appropriate protective equipment, including (but not limited to) disposable powder-free gloves
and lab coats.
Follow your institution’s safety procedures for general laboratory work, handling chemicals and
biological samples, and disposal of waste.
9.2.3.
Chemical hazards
WARNING!
Novodiag® Test Cartridges may contain hazardous chemicals that may cause injury in case of leak.
Before handling cartridges, consult the corresponding Novodiag® Test specific safety data sheet.
Follow your institution’s safety procedures for general laboratory work, handling chemicals and
biological samples, and disposal of waste.
9.2.4.
Sharp hazards
WARNING!
Breakable glass slide (microarray) is present inside some of the Novodiag® Test Cartridges (refer to the
Novodiag® Test specific Instructions for Use). It can expose you to sharp hazards and causes injuries.
Handle cartridges carefully.
Check cartridge integrity before and after the run. Do not turn the cartridge upside down.
Follow your institution’s safety procedures for disposal of waste.
9.2.5.
Mechanical hazards
WARNING!
Automatically moving parts are present inside the Novodiag® Instrument. They can expose you to
mechanical hazards and causes injuries.
Do not put hands in the Novodiag® Instrument while running.
Follow the instructions given by the Novodiag® Software for inserting the cartridge. Do not insert
anything else inside the Novodiag® Instrument.
WARNING!
Because of the Novodiag® Instrument’s weight, lifting or moving the instrument without adopting a
good posture can expose you to injury or damage the Novodiag® Instrument.
Do not attempt to lift or carry the Novodiag® Instrument without assistance.
Do not lean on a stack of Novodiag® Instruments.
9.3.
Electromagnetic compatibility
The Novodiag® Instrument complies with emission and immunity requirements described in IEC 61326-2-6. This
equipment has been designed and tested to CISPR 11 Class A. In a domestic environment it may cause radio
interference, in which case, you may need to take measures to mitigate interference.
CAUTION
The electromagnetic environment can interfere with the proper operation of the Novodiag®
Instrument.
Do not use the Novodiag® System in close proximity to sources of strong electromagnetic radiation.
Make sure that the environmental requirements specified in Chapter 4 are satisfied.
