Clean the contaminated slot tray as follows:
1.
Wear appropriate PPE, such as a laboratory coat and gloves.
2.
Shut down the Novodiag® Instrument (see Chapter 4.5.1).
3.
Open the door of the contaminated slot and pull the tray out carefully.
4.
Wet a paper towel with DNA/RNA degrading agent and wipe the tray. Follow the instructions of the agent
used (e.g. possible duration of action).
5.
Discard paper towel according to applicable regulations. Change gloves.
6.
Wet a clean paper towel with distilled water and wipe the tray.
7.
Discard paper towel and change gloves.
8.
Close the tray.
8.1.4.
Decontamination of the Novodiag® Instrument, Barcode Scanner and Touchscreen Computer
In case of a spill or suspected contamination, clean the Novodiag® Instrument, Barcode Scanner and Touchscreen
Computer as follows:
1.
Wear appropriate PPE, such as a laboratory coat and gloves.
2.
Wet a paper towel with DNA/RNA degrading agent and wipe all exterior surfaces of the Novodiag®
Instrument and the Barcode Scanner, except the window for reading. Follow the instructions of the
product used (e.g. possible duration of action).
3.
Discard paper towel according to applicable regulations. Change gloves.
4.
Wet a clean paper towel with distilled water and wipe all exterior surfaces of the Novodiag® Instrument
and the Barcode Scanner. Wet another clean paper towel with distilled water and wipe the Touchscreen
Computer.
5.
Discard paper towel and change gloves.
8.1.5.
Decontamination of other equipment and working areas
In case of a spill or suspected contamination, clean the bench tops, other used equipment and working areas as
follows:
1.
Wear appropriate PPE, such as a laboratory coat and gloves.
2.
Wet a paper towel with DNA/RNA degrading agent and wipe all surfaces and equipment (e.g. pipette and
vortex mixer) that may have been contaminated. Follow the instructions of the product used (e.g.
possible duration of action).
3.
Discard paper towel according to applicable regulations. Change gloves.
4.
Wet a clean paper towel with distilled water and wipe all surfaces and equipment.
5.
Discard paper towel and change gloves.
8.1.6.
After decontamination
Ensure the proper operation of a decontaminated Novodiag® Instrument as follows:
Test negative controls for each assay in use by preparing a cartridge according to Chapter 6. If the runs are
successful and all results are negative, continue using the slot as usual. If unexpected positive results are obtained,
or if the run fails, please contact Mobidiag representative.
8.2.
Novodiag® Instrument or slot disabling
After a failure or a suspicion of contamination, a slot can be disabled from the Novodiag® Software following the
procedure described in Chapter 5.6.4.
CAUTION
Do not switch off a Novodiag® Instrument individually in a stack configuration. If an instrument in a
stack needs to be disabled, contact Mobidiag representative.
8.3.
Decontamination procedure prior to Novodiag® Instrument maintenance
WARNING!
Before a Novodiag® Instrument is to be replaced or removed by a Mobidiag representative, its
decontamination according to Chapter 8.1 must be applied, to prevent any risk of infection.
CAUTION
Mobidiag representative will take care of the Novodiag® Instrument replacement or decommissioning.
Do not attempt to repack a Novodiag® Instrument without Mobidiag representative.
