NOTE
l Make sure you have the keyless operation
key with you before locking the doors and
rear hatch. Even if you leave the keyless op-
eration key inside the vehicle, it is possible
that the doors and rear hatch will lock depend-
ing on the surrounding environment and wire-
less signal conditions.

Type 2
When the ignition switch is in the “LOCK” (PUSH
OFF) position, if you try to lock the doors and rear
hatch by pressing the driver’s or front passenger’s
door lock/unlock switch, or the rear hatch LOCK
switch with one of the doors or the rear hatch not
completely closed, a warning is issued with the warn-
ing display and the buzzer buzzing for about 3 sec-
onds and you cannot lock the doors and rear hatch.

Type 2
When the ignition switch is in any position other
than the “LOCK” (PUSH OFF) position, if you
close all the doors and the rear hatch then try to
lock the doors and rear hatch by pressing the driv-
er’s or front passenger’s door lock/unlock switch,
or the rear hatch LOCK switch, a warning is issued
with the warning display and the buzzer buzzing
for about 3 seconds and you cannot lock the doors
and rear hatch.
Steering wheel lock

To lock
Turn the steering wheel until it is locked.
To unlock
Turn the ignition switch to the “ACC” position
while moving the steering wheel slightly right and
left.
CAUTION
l Carry the key with you when leaving the
vehicle.
If your vehicle needs to be towed, turn
the ignition switch to the “ACC” position
to unlock the steering wheel.
Starting

Tips for starting
l Do not operate the starter motor continuous-
ly longer than 10 seconds; doing so could
run down the battery. If the engine does not
start, turn the ignition switch back to
“LOCK”, wait a few seconds, and then try
again.
Trying repeatedly with the starter motor still
turning will damage the starter mechanism.
