MEANING OF THE PICTOGRAMS USED IN THIS MANUAL
Pictograms have been inserted into the manual to make it clearer and to indicate particular points that should
be observed or taken into account, as follows:
Reading symbol:
This pictogram indicates particular points and information given
Danger symbol:
This pictogram represents the DIN symbol 4844 (hazard warning) that warns
of a hazard that could cause death or personal injury with damage to the machine. All
personnel working on this machine must comply with this symbol. Work safety regulations
must be observed.
Environment protection symbol:
This pictogram calls to mind the requirement, during
maintenance operations, to sort the waste, store it in a safe place and dispose of it in an
environmentally responsible manner.
Dustbin on wheels barred of a cross symbol:
This symbol indicates that the equipment
should not be thrown with domestic waste and is subject to selective collection.
Compulsory:
use ear defenders (ISO 7010-M003)

Warning:

The removal of any self-adhesive label bearing the above pictograms from the machine is strictly forbidden.
Any label which is damaged or peeling off must be replaced.

Information concerning this document.
This document describes the safety regulations to be observed, the intended use and the basic conditions
for operation, installation, and maintenance work on the vacuum pump. It is a reference document for
operating and maintenance personnel as well as for product training.
The regulations and requirements of the respective operator or country are not considered in the document.
This document only contains information on the use and hazards directly related to the vacuum pump.
This document is intended for qualified personnel for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the
vacuum pump. Sections which are intended only for specially authorised personnel are identified by a
remark.
Always keep this document in an accessible place for the operator, operating and service personnel.
The pictures in this document show the structure and operation of the vacuum pump. They represent the
operating principle of the vacuum pump and do not correspond exactly to the product.
Units
The units used are those of the international system and the indications in brackets are in the Anglo-Saxon
system. Length indications without units are in millimetres and those in brackets are in inches.
Liability limits
This document describes the risks of personal injury and product damage that may occur during installation,
operation, and maintenance. No liability is assumed in the following cases:

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Intended use
The vacuum pump may only be used in perfect condition and as described in the operating instructions. For
operating modes not described, please consult the manufacturer.
Use the vacuum pump in accordance with the data or determine the operating conditions in accordance with
the technology rules; consult the manufacturer if necessary. The integration of the vacuum pump into a
complete system must comply with the recognised technology rules. The operator is responsible for the
proper operation of the vacuum pump.
No modifications or alterations of the vacuum pump are permitted without the written approval of the
manufacturer. Only authorised spare parts and accessories may be used for service and maintenance work.
