Braised beef
Serves approx. 6
1000 g beef fillet
Salt, pepper and paprika
1 onion, diced
1 bay leaf
50 g soft margarine
250 ml beef stock (instant)
250 ml water
125 g crème fraîche
Cornflour
Method
1. Season the meat with salt, pepper
and paprika, brush with margarine and
place in a roasting dish. Add the onions
and bay leaf, cover and cook.
2. After 30 minutes, add some beef
stock and crème fraîche, and continue
to cook. After 80 minutes, remove the
lid and continue to cook uncovered
until done.
3. Deglaze the roasting juices with the
rest of the stock, crème fraîche and the
water. Make the cornflour into a paste
with a little water and stir into the stock
to thicken. Carve the meat and serve
with the gravy.
