Ph Shift On Time
Phase shifter on time
delay
0
– 140 ms
20 ms
0 ms
During contactor change over the control card disables the phase shifter from firing the Thyristors for a
settable time to allow the contactors to change over under zero current conditions. The time which the
phase shifter remains disabled is the Phase Shifter Off Time (Parameter 16) and is determined from
the contactor’s pull-in (close-in) and drop-out times.
During the change over period Parameter 15 keeps the phase shifter enabled by a further
“phase
shifter on time” to achieve maximum control time before disabling the thyristor firing while the hoist and
lowering contactors are in the process of changing over (Open Circuit).
Case 1: Maximum drop-out time > the maximum close-in time
In this case the parameter 15 setting is derived from the maximum contactor drop-out time minus the
close-in time as in the example below:
Example:
Reversing contactors LC1-F265
Contactor
drop-out
time with standard LX1-FH coil = 100 to 170ms
Contactor
close-in
time with standard LX1-FH coil = 40 to 65ms
Since the parameter settings are incremented in 20ms steps, the drop-out time used is 180ms and the
maximum close-in time used is 80ms.
The recommended “phase shifter on time” is therefore 180 – 80 = 100ms.
Case 2: Maximum drop-out time < the maximum close-in time
In this case parameter 15 setting must be less than the drop-out time as in the example below:
Example:
Reversing contactors LC1-F330
Contactor
drop-out
time with the LX9-FH coil = 25ms
Contactor
close-in
time with the LX9-FH coil = 45ms
Since the drop-
out time is 25ms. The recommended “phase shifter on time” is therefore 0ms or 20ms
as the phase shifter must be disabled before the contactor drops out.
The recommended
“phase shifter on time” in this case is 0ms.
Refer to parameter 16 which complements the settings around reversing contactors change over time.
