Electrical System
Fuses
The fuse box is located in the engine
com partm ent.
All fuse protected equipm ent is
shown in the lid of the fuse box.
Fuse arrangem ent in the box —
starting at the engine side and
proceeding outwards —
RH row: odd num bers 1 ,3 ,5 , etc. up
to 13; LH row: even num bers 2 ,4 , 6,
etc. up to 14.
Fuses m ust not be repaired or
bridged.
Spare fuses are stored in the fuse box
(observe amperage and co lo r code).
Before changing a burned o u t fuse,
determ ine the cause of the sh o rt
circuit.
A fte r replacing a fuse, engage lid of
fuse box at rear and lock w ith clamp
at front.
Battery
C heck fluid level in each cell approxi­
mately every fo u r weeks, and more
frequently during the sum m er and in
hot climates.
Refill battery only with distilled water.
Do not use metal funnels nor push
through the o verfill-protection dia­
phragm s in filler holes.
The battery is com pletely filled when
the w ater stops draining through the
overfill-protection diaphragm.
To check the battery charge with a
hydrom eter, push its tip through the
ove rfill-p ro te ctio n diaphragm and
take the electrolyte sample.
Coat battery terminal clam ps with
a cidproof grease. Keep battery clean
and dry.
Only to w vehicle with the battery
connected.
Only charge battery w ith a battery
charger when it is d isco n ne cte d from
the vehicle electrical circuit.
Caution:
W hile the engine is running the
battery terminal clam ps m ust not be
loosened or detached as otherwise
the alternator and o th e r electronic
units w ould be damaged.
