TDR / Pulse Echo (Time Domain Reflectometer)
Low Voltage TDR Pre-location
The SG32-1500M has an integrated TDR.
1. Set the rotary High Voltage Control Knob (item 12) to the “Zero Start”
position.
If the rotary High Voltage Control Knob (item 12) is not set to the “Zero
Start” position prior to pushing the HV ON pushbutton (item 10), a “Zero
Start” interlock error will occur causing the “ZERO START” interlock error
LED (item 2) to be illuminated momentarily and the selected test mode will
be cancelled
NOTE: The position of the Voltage Range and Test Mode switches cannot be
moved while a particular test mode is activated (mechanical interlock).
2. Ensure that the SELECT Voltage Range switch (item 14) is fully pushed
down and seated. As we are using the TDR in low voltage pre-location, no
HV voltage is required.
3. Set the SELECT Mode Knob (item 16) to the TDR and ARC REFL test
group. Both button’s Blue LEDs will illuminate, indicating that either of
these 2 test modes is available.
4. Push the TDR pushbutton (item 18). The selection is confirmed by the TDR
pushbutton Blue LED remaining illuminated, and the ARC REFL
pushbutton Blue LED extinguishing.

6. To de-select, and terminate operation, push the TDR pushbutton (item 18),
which also engages the internal earthing/grounding. Both the TDR and ARC
REFL pushbutton’s Blue LEDs will illuminate, indicating that either of these
test modes are available.
