Switching on the unit
1.
Enabling AC power to the SG32-1500M requires the Red Emergency Stop
button (item 25) to be fully released. The White LED inside the ON/OFF
pushbutton (item 20) will illuminate indicating AC Power is available to the
SG32-1500M.
2.
Press the ON/OFF pushbutton (item 20) again to activate the PLC of the
SG32-1500M. At turn-on, all indicators will illuminate for a short period of
time during a self-test. Two Blue Test Mode LEDs will remain lit after
initialization, indicating
the Test Mode group that was last selected.
NOTE:
The Voltage Range and Test Mode selector switches are locked in
position during transportation to help avoid miss-handling. Therefore
they cannot be moved or turned until 5 seconds after the unit is turned
on. Additionally, once a test mode has been selected, these switches are
locked until the test mode is deselected.

Assuming all interlocks are satisfied, all Safety Interlock indicators will remain
off. If any of the interlocks are not satisfied, the appropriate indicator will
glow yellow.
Test Procedures
D.C. Dielectric withstand (Proof) Test
The SG32-1500M generates a DC test voltage of 0 to 32 kV with a current of 0
to 40mA (16kV range) and 20mA (32kV range). The proof test is used to check
the integrity of cable installations. The test voltage is defined by the user and
local regulations.

Set the rotary High Voltage Control knob (item 19) to the “Zero Start” (item
10) position.
NOTE:
If the rotary High Voltage Control Knob (item 19) is not set to the
“Zero Start” position (item 10) prior to pushing the HV ON push
button, a “Zero Start” interlock error will occur causing the “ZERO
START” interlock error LED to be illuminated momentarily and the
selected test mode will be cancelled.
NOTE:
The position of the Voltage Range and Test Mode switches cannot be
changed while active in any of the test modes!
