Diagnostics

The McLaren Diagnostic System (MDS) is a Bosch developed product that allows the team to gather all
the required information required to diagnose and repair faults, or reflash control units to a new
software platform. For further information, please refer to: MDS Tool.

The MDS software can be loaded onto a Windows laptop, and with a valid licence can connect by a
Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) such as Bosch MTS 6512 to the vehicle OBD socket. For
further information, please refer to: Vehicle Communication Interface.

The licence and software only work with this vehicle and cannot be used for McLaren Automotive
products. Likewise, the McLaren Automotive MDS cannot communicate with a McLaren Customer
Racing vehicle.

MDS allows the user to read and clear fault codes, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and reflash
the software in the electrical modules. The system is very useful for trackside support and McLaren
Customer Racing Customer Support Engineers can remotely control the software providing the
customer has a Wi-Fi connection.

The MDS allows the user to complete the following tasks:

Identify software version on each control unit
