Actuators 

The Actuator function allows the user to activate certain functions on the vehicle whilst in diagnostic 
session. The actuator page can take several seconds to load due to the system reading the current 
status of each component and safety feature.

 

When loaded, the actuator is selected from the list then operated with the control at the bottom of 
the data window. 

The actuators can be operated in several different ways, depending on the type of component being 
operated: 

Icon 

Description 

 
 

 

  

A single on / off control is represented with a rocker switch

 

 

 

 

The double switch icon is used for actuators which require two inputs, such as a 

duty cycle and frequency. The frequency is defaulted to 100hz and the control is 

used to change the duty cycle 

 

 

 

 

Slider is used when a percentage is needed

 

 

 

 

 

A telltale icon is used to illuminate and extinguish dashboard tell tales

Sequences 

Sequences are used when there is a requirement to configure, replace or carryout a 
pre-defined program within a control unit.

 

Details for when these individual functions are required will be directed by a customer 
support engineer. 

To operate simply select one of the functions and press the forward arrow in the top right of the Data 
Window, follow the preconditions required to carry out the operation. 

 

Reprogramming 

Reprogramming is used to update the software contained within a particular 
controller.

 

To complete software updates to controllers on McLaren Customer Racing 

Software available is listed in the lower part of the Data Window. 

Technical Bulletins released at the time of the software release will give full details. 

Once the software file is selected, the system is activated by pressing the forward arrow in the top 
right of the Data Window. Make sure the operator follows the preconditions on the screen (including 
connecting the vehicle to a stabilised power supply) and press OK. 

The reprogramming feature is automated from this point   not all modules are necessarily 
reprogrammable and units may have to be returned to McLaren Customer Racing for flashing.
