Water Filter
Wate r Filte r Removal and
Installation

To avoi d serious illness or d eath, d o not use
refrigerator where water is unsafe or of unknown
quality without a
d equate d isinfection before or after
use of filter.
WARNING
After installing a new water filter, always d ispense
water for two minutes before removing the filter for
any reason. Air trappe
d in system may cause water
an d cartri d ge to eject. Use caution when removing.
• The bypass cap d oes not filter water. Be sure to
have replacement cartri d ge available when filter
change is require d .
• If water filtration system has been allowe d to
freeze, replace filter cartri d ge.
• If system has not been use d for several months, or
water has an unpleasant taste or o d or, flush
system by d ispensing water for two to three
minutes. If unpleasant taste or o d or persists,
change filter cartri d ge.
CAUTION
Initial Installation
The water filter is locate d in the upper right-han d
corner of the fresh foo d compartment.
1. Remove blue bypass cap an d
retain for later use.
2. Remove sealing label from
en d of filter an d insert into
filter hea d .
3. Rotate gently clockwise until
filter stops. Snap filter cover
close
d .
4. Re d uce water spurts by
flushing air from system.
Run water continuously for
two minutes through
d ispenser until water runs
stea d y. During initial use,
allow a d elay of approximately one minute in water
d ispersal to allow internal water tank to fill.
• A dd itional flushing may be require d in some
househol d s where water is of poor quality.
Replacin g Wate r Filte r
IMPORT A NT: A i r t r apped in system may cause
wate r and ca r t r id g e to eject. Use caution when
r emovin g .
1. Turn filter counterclockwise until it releases from
filter hea d .
2. Drain water from filter into sink, an d d ispose in
normal househol d trash.
3. Wipe up excess water in filter cover an d continue
with Initial Installation , steps 2 an d 4.
The filter shoul d be change d at least every 12 months.
IMPORT A NT: Con d ition of water an d amount use d
d etermines life span of water filter cartri d ge. If water
use is high, or if water is of poor quality, replacement
may nee
d to take place more often.
To purchase a replacement water filter cartri d ge,
contact your d ealer.
The d ispenser feature may be use d without a water
filter cartri d ge. If you choose this option, replace filter
with blue bypass cap.
