Ice and Water
A utomatic Ice Make r
Note
• Energy rating gui d es that are poste d on the

To avoi d personal injury or property d amage,
observe the following:
• Do not place fingers or han d s on the automatic ice
making mechanism while the refrigerator is
plugge
d in. This will help protect you from possible
injury. It will also prevent interference with moving
parts of the ejector mechanism an
d the heating
element that releases the cubes.
• Un d er certain rare circumstances, ice cubes may
be d iscolore d , usually appearing with a green-
bluish hue. The cause of this unusual d iscoloration
can be a combination of factors such as certain
characteristics of local waters, househol
d
plumbing an d the accumulation of copper salts in
an inactive water supply line which fee d s the ice
maker. Continue d consumption of such d iscolore d
ice cubes may be injurious to health. If such
d iscoloration is observe d , d iscar d the ice cubes
an d contact your d ealer to purchase an d install a
water line filter.
• Water d amage d ue to improper water connection
may cause mol d /mil d ew growth.
• Clean up water an d ice spills to avoi d personal
injury an d to prevent mol d /mil d ew growth.
WARNING

number of the appropriate ice maker kit is IC10S. The
kit contains installation instructions an
d water
connection instructions.
Other mo d els have a factory installe d ice maker.
Connect the ice maker to the water supply as
instructe
d on pages 4-5. P r ope r wate r flow and a
level r ef r i g e r ato r a r e essential fo r optimal ice
make r pe r fo r mance.
Ope r atin g Inst r uctions
• Confirm ice bin is in place an d ice maker arm is
d own.
• After freezer section reaches
between 0° to 2° F (-18° to -17° C),
ice maker fills with water an
d
begins operating. You will have a
complete harvest of ice
approximately every three hours.
• Allow approximately 24 hours after installation to
receive first harvest of ice.
• Discar d ice create d within first 12 hours of operation
to verify system is flushe d of impurities.
• Stop ice pro d uction by raising ice maker arm until
click is hear d .
• Ice maker will remain in the OFF position until arm is
pushe d d own.
• The first one or two batches will probably contain
un d ersize d an d irregular cubes because of air in the
supply line.
• When the ice cubes are ejecte d it is normal for
several cubes to be joine d together at the en d s. They
can easily be broken apart. The ice maker will
continue to make ice until the supply of ice cubes
raises the sensor arm, shutting the ice maker off.
• Certain soun d s may accompany the various cycles of
the ice maker. The motor may have a slight hum, the
cubes will rattle as they fall into an empty storage
pan an
d the water valve may click or “buzz”
occasionally.
• If the ice is not use d frequently, the ice cubes will
become clou d y, shrink, stick together an d taste stale.
Empty the ice storage bin perio d ically an d wash it in
lukewarm water. Be sure to d ry the bin thoroughly
before replacing it.
• Beverages an d foo d s shoul d not be place d in the ice
storage bin for quick chilling. These items can block
the sensor arm, causing the ice maker to
malfunction.
• Turn off (arm up) the ice maker when the water
supply is to be shut off for several hours.
To Remove the Ice Bin:
• Pull it forwar d , away from the ice maker. To avoi d the
ice maker d umping ice while the bin is remove d , turn
the ice maker off by raising the sensor arm.
To Install the Ice Bin:
• Reverse the above proce d ure. Turn the ice maker on
by lowering the sensor arm.
