6.3 Assigning a Footswitch to a Channel
To select an activation source (or option), press the appropriate channel selector button (yellow or
blue – in our example, yellow) for the channel of your choice three times to move the red frame
from the Power field to the third (or Footswitch) field. At the same time, the “Pedal selection” sub-
menu pops up in the Menu field, offering you a selection of three activation options:
If the (yellow or blue) field highlighted by the red frame is empty, this means that no footswitch has
been assigned to the channel. Therefore, activation is possible only manually with the hand switch
of a connected instrument.
If the yellow footswitch is selected, this means that monopolar and bipolar cutting currents can be
activated with the yellow pedal of the dual-pedal footswitch. Alternatively, the single-pedal foot-
switch can be selected as well.
If a blue channel selector button is pressed three times to access the Footswitch field, the blue
dual-pedal or single-pedal footswitch can be selected from the “Pedal selection” menu and thus
assigned to the selected channel. The backlight of the rotary switch also indicates which mode is
currently being used (yellow = cutting, blue = coagulating).
The "no pedal" option allows you to deselect a selected (active) footswitch.
If you select a pedal that has already been assigned to another channel, the former assignment is
canceled and the pedal is automatically assigned to the newly selected channel. The pedal symbol
will now change position accordingly on the maxium’s display.
If you try to activate a deselected channel with the handle button or a footswitch still assigned to it,
the channel field will display an alert message that prompts you to select the channel first before it
can be activated.
