When leaving the vessel, turn off the engine room lights, galley fridge, inverter outlets on AC switchboard to prevent
drain on the batteries through the inverter in the case of loss of shore power.
7.4
BATTERY CONTROL
The ship’s batteries are controlled by the panel
located in the starboard side locker bin in cockpit.
The battery master switch panel allows the operator
to select and link the battery banks as required
(see Figure 7.4).

Isolator switch—Port engine starting circuit.

Isolator switch—House bank.
Isolator switch—Starboard engine starting circuit.
This switch will link the port and starboard
bank. Use if one bank is flat to boost the other,
then reset. Do not leave in the ON position as
this position connects the house bank to the
port start bank, and whilst this is not an unsafe
condition, it is unwise from the point of energy
conservation. Power to operate the various
circuits will be drawn from the port starting
bank as well as the house bank and may lead
to starting problems for the port engine.
Isolator switch — Generator.
Isolator switch — Inverter.
This switch links the port start bank to the
house bank. Use if the house bank has become
depleted and cannot start the generator. Always
return the switch to the OFF position after
starting the generator.
