4.5.5.1
Standard EMV Transaction
The sequence for calling the command is as follows:
1)
(Contactless Only) In solutions that accept all card types, the host may configure the device using
Command 0x09 - Set / Get Device Configuration
Alternate GUI Control
=
Alternate
to
avoid unintentional reading of contactless cards when a cardholder intends to use the magnetic stripe.
Screens that would ordinarily prompt the cardholder to approve an amount will then include prompts
to select a payment method (
Swipe
or
Insert / Tap
).
2)
As a cautionary measure, the host may send the device
the device does not have a previous unfinished transaction lingering, which would block initiation of
a new transaction.
3)
The host finalizes the amount for the transaction. (Handheld Operation Only) For solutions that
implement tip or cashback, this involves the host first calling
Cashback (Handheld Operation Only)
4)
Command 0xA2 - Start EMV Transaction
5)
The device prompts the cardholder to present payment by displaying pre-defined EMV messages:
a)
DynaPro and DynaPro Go show
AMOUNT OK? (AMOUNT)
and
Yes
or
No
, and wait for the
cardholder to select
Yes
,
No
, or
Cancel
.
i)
(Handheld Operation Only) If the host invoked the command with
Operating Mode
equal to
Tip
or
Cashback
, the device will also show the Tax, Tip, and Total amounts, or the Tax,
Cash Back, and Total amounts, respectively.
ii)
(Contactless Only) If the device is configured to use Alternate GUI Control, and the
command specified both Contactless Chip Card and Magnetic Stripe Card are enabled:
(1)
The device splits the
Yes
option further into
Yes, Swipe
or
Yes, Insert/Tap
.
(2)
If the host specified Quick Chip mode in the command, the device does not show an
amount or a prompt at all, and instead just presents the cardholder with options
Swipe
,
Insert/Tap
, and
Cancel
.
