D. Firmware update
The firmware of the MCP-601 can be updated to the most current codes by using a PC computer acting
as a Hyper Terminal in conjunction with the Magni FX-1 Controller connected to the MCP-601. Follow
the procedure that follows to update the codes.
NOTE: The Magni FX-1 Controller is required for firmware code upgrade.
Serial Communication Configuration:
Terminal Setup:
Bit per Seconds: 115200
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bit: 1
Flow Control: Hardware
File Transfer:
Protocol: Y-Modem
Update MCP-601 Code using Hyper Terminal
1.
Connect the RS232 cable between the computer and the MCP601
2.
Ensure that Hyper Terminal has been installed onto the pc
3.
Ensure the FX controller box is connected to the MCP601
4.
Double click on the “MCP-601.ht” file to run the terminal
5.
Cycle the power on the MCP601.
6.
Observe the “Input Analog” LED on the front panel.
7.
When the LED turns off, Press the “Memory” Button, then the “Fade” button on the FX controller.
8.
At this point the terminal will display a menu

To send a file:
1.
Ensure the “Caps Lock is off”
2.
Press the letter on the keyboard “a” or “b” or “p” to send a desired program to upgrade.
3.
In the picture below the letter “a” was pressed. To initialize the MCP to get ready to receive the Alexandria
code
4.
On the Menu of Hyper Terminal, Select “Transfer”->”Send File”
