!
Caution:
Be sure that the power switch on the APX 1000 dc power supply is in the off
position when you are connecting the supply to a local dc power source.
The APX 1000 dc power supply has a three-connector terminal strip. The -48Vdc power must
connected to the supply with wire of the proper gauge, that is provided locally during
installation. The top connector on the rear of the power supply connects directly to the -48Vdc
power. The bottom terminal connects to the common, or return, lead of the local dc power
source. For additional requirements of and specifications for the dc power supply, see
“Electrical requirements” on page D-2.
The APX 1000 dc power supply is shown in Figure 2-6.

The back panel of the dc supply has two status lights, described in Table 2-4.
Understanding APX 1000 slot cards
The APX 1000 chassis has five slots that accept the following different types of slot cards.
These slots are visible in Figure 2-2 on page 2-3.
All slot cards have a FAULT indicator light that indicates the status of the card. Some slot
cards have additional indicator lights. Details for each slot card, its connectors, and its
indicator lights are provided in Appendix B, “Slot Card Specifications.”
