Using the LI-6400

Display Update Frequency
The top line of the display normally updates every time new measurements
are available and system variables (Chapter 14) are computed, which is 0.75
seconds. The other two lines are updated every 3rd time user computations
(Chapter 15) are performed (i.e. 2.25 seconds). Thus, when the
a
display line,
which contains CO
2
and H
2
O values for sample and reference (these four
things are system variables) is on the top line, those values change every 0.75
seconds. If you put the
a
line on line 2 or 3, they change every 2 or 3 seconds
there. On the other hand, the
c
display line, which contains user computations
(
Photo
,
Cond
,
Ci
) will only appear to update every 2 or 3 seconds, no matter
what line itÕs on. (If itÕs on the top line, it updates every 0.75 seconds, but the
values only change every 2 or 3 seconds). (This can be modified. See
The reason for this split behavior is to allow some measured variables to be
viewed as fast as they are measured, but without giving the processor so much
to do that it canÕt keep up.
Display Function Keys
New Measurements function key level 6 contains the control keys pertaining
to the text display (Figure 6-1). The function keys are:
Display QuikPik
Allows rapid selection of another display format by selecting it via Standard
File Dialog (page 5-9) from those that have been stored in the file system in
the directory
/User/Configs/Displays
. These files are generated by the Display Ed-
itor, explained below.
Display List
Brings up a menu showing the list of currently defined label lines.
