You have inputted the following data entry:
4 [+] 5 [=]
-> 4+5 | 9.
34 [+] 57 [-] 27 [x] 78 [+] 5 [=] -> 34+57-27x78+5 | -2,010.
If you press the [ ] key your calculation will be displayed in alphanumeric
format and the symbol
indicates that the calculation is too long to be
displayed in its entirety on the screen.
• You wish to change 27 to 7 in the calculation:
34 [+] 57 [-] 27 [x] 78 +5 [=] -> 34+57-27x78+5 | -2,010.
Use the [ ] key to position the cursor at the place of correction, in this case,
on the 2 (the grey square indicates the position of the cursor).

Scientific and Engineering Notations
The SC460 calculator directly displays the result of a calculation (x) in nor-
mal decimal mode if x is found inside the following interval:
0.000000001 ≤ |x| ≤ 9999999999
Note :
|x| is the absolute value of x, thus |x|= -x if x‹0 and |x|=x if x≥0.
The calculator will automatically use the scientific notation mode to display
the result of a calculation which falls outside these limits, the two numbers
on the top right hand corner representing the factor 10 exponent.
E.g.:
In scientific notation:
2 500 000 squared and its inverse
2500000 [x
][=] -> 6.25
12
thus 6,25 x 10
12
Engineering notation is derived from the same principle, except that for this
notation a power of 10 must always be a multiple of 3 (10
, 10
6
, 10
9
etc.).
Using the previous example, this time in engineering notation:
100000 [x
][=]
-> 1.
10
[ENG]
-> 10.
