The drain piping can be routed to either a sink or a floor
drain. If you route the drain piping to a sink drain without
using an air gap, the highest point of the drain pipe must
be above the sink drain, as shown in Figure 3-13.

If an air gap is not
used, the drain line
must be elevated
above the water
level of the sink.
