Operational Limitations
7.1
Target separation
Radar works different than camera in terms of target separation. Cameras have a very good
angular resolution and colour or grey values but poor distance and speed resolution. Radars
have no colour or grey values and a not so good angular resolution. Therefore, the target
separation is mainly done in the range doppler domain. Therefore, a Radar can in general easy
separate objects that have a different speed or distance but is not that good in separation of
targets that are side by side with the same speed and same distance.
7.2
Simultaneous Operation
If there are multiple KY-RAY 3D.03.01 devices are operating in the same area the devices can
be coordinated so that there is no interference. The radar only starts transmitting if there is a
request for a measurement. To avoid interference between radars these requests should be
coordinated in a way that the request for the next radar is send after the measurement for the
actual radar has sent its response message.
