2 Planning Information

2.1 Application (Evaporation)

The cabinet unit dehumidifier can be used in new or existing in-
door swimming pools. In indoor swimming pools, evaporation
takes place in standby operation at 50 to 80 g/m

2

h and in swim-

ming pool operation at 150 to 220 g/m

2

h, under air conditions

b30  °C / 60 % relative humidity and pool water tempe-
rature b27 and +28  °C. If the pool is not covered, the
pool water temperature should generally be kept at 2 to 3 K
below the room temperature.
If the pool water temperature is increased at constant air tempe-
rature, evaporation will also automatically increase (vapour accu-
mulation). If a higher pool water temperature is required (e.g. for
medical purposes), then a separate calculation must be carried
out, e. g., according to Recknagel-Sprenger-Hönmann (Hand-
book for Heating and Climate Control). For whirlpools, the vapour
accumulation is approx. 0.8 kg/m

2

h without, and approx. 2 kg/

m

2

h with operational fans, at a water temperature of 37  °C , 25

° C / 60 % relative humidity of indoor air.

2.2 Device selection

This depends on the pool water surface, including any overflows
and the room volume. The dehumidification output provided in
the device information applies.
For covered pools, individual consultation and dimensioning is
necessary. The special construction of the air cooler allows ope-
ration of these devices at air temperatures b15 and +38
°C, without danger of the air cooler freezing, or triggering of the
security pressure switch.
With the correct device selection, the daily runtime is approx. 12
to 18 hours. Thus, for heat consumption calculation, only 50 to
75 % of the heat recovery can be used as heat output.

ATTENTION!

Large window surfaces should be protected against "steaming up"
(falling below the dew point) via radiators or underfloor-convectors.

2.3 Operating Principle

The dehumidifier consists of the main components evaporator,
ventilator and expansion valve, as well as the low-noise com-
pressor, liquefier and electrical control system.
The refrigerant circuit is "hermetically sealed" and contains the
fluorinated refrigerant R407C with a GWP value of 1525, incor-
porated in the Kyoto protocol. The refrigerant is CFC-free, non-
ozone depleting and non-combustible.
Air is drawn in by the ventilator and fed via the evaporator (heat
exchanger). The evaporator cools the air and extracts the humi-
dity (condensation) present in the swimming pool environment.
Using an electrically driven compressor, the gaseous refrigerant
is compressed and then condensed again via the liquefier.
At low ambient temperatures, humidity accumulates on the eva-
porator in the form of frost, reducing the transfer of heat. The
evaporator is automatically defrosted as required.

3 Installation Instructions

3.1 Device installation

Installation takes place inside the indoor swimming pool on a le-
vel, smooth surface. To compensate for minor unevenness,
height-adjustable feet are delivered as standard. Allow additional
space for service and maintenance work, as well as easy access
to the device. Radiators mounted less than 1 m from the device
are to be switched off. Large window surfaces should be protec-
ted against “fogging” (faling below the dew point) via radiators or
underfloor-convectors. When wall mounting with the optional wall
bracket accessory, the distance between the top of the device
and the ceiling must be at least 1.2 m.

ATTENTION!

Do not restrict or block the area around the air intake or outlet.

3.2 Combination sensor

This is integrated in the device, complete with regulation, and
ready for operation.

3.3 Switch box

Connections, installation and protective measures for electric in-
stallation by the customer must be carried out according to VDE
specifications 0100, in particular consideration for parts 410, 560
and 702. For three-phase current devices, it is absolutely
essentialto connect a clockwise rotating field. For installation, an
all-pole separator from the network with a contact clearance of at
least 3 mm per pole is required! (Fault current protective switch /
RCD 30 mA and slow pre-fusing by the customer!). The device is
wired ready for use. Regulation is with a protective extra-low vol-
tage of 24 V DC.
All other information on the electrical connection can be found in
the circuit diagram in the appendix.

ATTENTION!

Any work on the device may only be performed by authorized and
qualified after-sales service technicians.

ATTENTION!

Ensure that there is a clockwise rotating field (for multiphase devices):
Operating the compressor in the wrong rotational direction could cause
damage to the compressor.

The switch box for the connection of the electrical supply lines is
located inside the device.
Loosening the screws on the side panels and removing the front
panel makes the switch box accessible. The switch box compon-
ents label is located on the inside of the controller cover plate.
The switch box accommodates the supply connection terminals
as well as the power contactor and control PCB.

3.4 Condensate outflow

The condensate drain stub is routed downwards and out of the
device through the base plate. For flexible routing of the conden-
sate outflow, a PVC hose, to be connected to the drain stub, is in-
cluded in the scope of supply. A siphon must be installed by the
customer in the outflow after the stub and/or hose to block any
odours.
