Adjusting the throttle cable *
The throttle grip should always have 3-5 mm free travel.
The throttle cables on models with a throttle grip such as the one depic-
ted need to be adjusted at the carburetor.
If an adjustment is necessary, remove the tank. Slide back the protection
cover
1
. To adjust, loosen the counternut
2
and turn the adjusting
screw
3
as needed. Afterwards tighten the counternut and slide the
protection cover back on.
Make sure the throttle grip automatically returns to the idle position
when you let go.
To check if the setting is correct, start the engine, turn the steering back
and forth as far as possible. The idle speed should not change. If it does,
increase the play on the throttle cable.
Adjusting the idle speed *
Use the adjusting screw
4
to adjust the basic setting of the throttle and
thus the idle speed. Turning in a clockwise direction will increase the idle
speed, turning in a counterclockwise direction will reduce the idle speed.
The idle speed should be between 1400-1500 rpm.
Draining the float chamber in the carburetor *
The float chamber in the carburetor should be drained after every wet wash
to remove any penetrating water. Water in the float chamber will cause the
engine to malfunction. This work should be performed when the engine
is cold.
Close the fuel tap and place the hose
5
running down behind the engine
in a suitable vessel.
Open the drain plug
6
(turn in a counterclockwise direction) several turns
and allow the fuel to drain from the float chamber.
Tighten the drain plug and open the fuel tap.
