11.2 Flame Appearance Adjustments
11.2.1 Burner Venturi
WARNING: To avoid property damage or personal injury, allow
the fireplace ample time to cool before making any adjustments.
NOTE: Venturi settings have been factory set. Refer to Table
11.3.
Burner flame appearance is affected by several factors, including
altitude, venting configuration, and fuel quality. After installation,
this appliance may need additional adjustments to achieve optimal
performance and visual aesthetics.
When this appliance is first lit, the flames will appear blue, then
gradually turn yellowish-orange during the first 15 minutes of
operation. If the flames remain blue, or become dark orange with
evidence of sooting (black tips), the burner tube venturi may need
adjustment.

11.2.2 Venturi Adjustment
WARNING: Venturi adjustment should only be performed by a
qualified personal service technician.
NOTE: If soot is present on the glass, check log positioning
before adjusting the venturi. Logs must not block burner ports.
1. Remove the safety barrier and glass frame assembly.
2. Remove the log set, the back log plate
,
burner assembly, and
burner heat shield from the firebox.
3. Loosen screw on venturi and adjust as necessary. Tighten
screw.
4. Reinstall all components previously removed.
IMPORTANT: Slight adjustments to the venturi opening will
create dramatic results. Adjust at slight increments until
desired look is achieved. Always burn the fireplace for at least
15 minutes, and always allow the appliance ample time to cool
before making any further adjustments.
Use the table and the illustrations below to achieve desired flame
appearance.
