Resolution — allows you to select the dots per inch (dpi), which affects
the size of the image. The options are: 300, 600 and 1200 dpi. The
default is 300 dpi. In most cases, 300 dpi is sufficient. Selecting 600 dpi
or 1200 dpi increases scanning and processing time.
NOTE: 1200 dpi is disabled if TIFF file format is selected.
File Format/Compression — select one of the following settings for
file format and compression.
•
JPEG/Best — optimum compression, best image quality. Creates a
smaller file size than JPEG / Superior . Select JPEG / Best if you want
standard size reprints of scanned image files.
• JPEG/Superior — minimum compression, superior image quality.
Creates a file that is 5 to 10 times larger than JPEG / Best
compression, which will impact performance. Select JPEG / Superior
if you want to reprint enlargements of scanned image files.
• TIFF/None — no compression. Creates a file size that is 2 to 8 times
larger than JPEG/Superior. Select TIFF/None for archival scanning.
NOTES:
• Any order that includes TIFF image files cannot be burned to a Kodak
Picture CD.
• 1200 dpi resolution is disabled for TIFF images. Do not scan photos
larger than 8 x10 inches as TIFF files.
Sharpen Images — sharpening is applied as the images are scanned.
The options are:
•
None : no sharpening will be done. This is the default.
• Low : low amount of sharpening applied.
• High : high amount of sharpening applied.
NOTE: Low is the recommended sharpening setting in most cases
where sharpening is desired. This option is not recommended
for grayscale images.
Restore default settings — clicking this button will return all scan
settings on this screen to their default values as following:
•
Scan as: Color
• Batch Scan Mode : Front Side
• Transport timeout : 3 seconds
• Resolution : 300 dpi
• File Format/Compression : JPEG/Best
• Sharpen Images : None
• Image Cleaner Tool : Off
• KODAK Perfect Touch : Apply to Both Sides: Off
• Crop Border : Normal
• Fill Border : None
• Flatbed Scan Mode : Enable Photo Selector (if installed); Off (if not
installed)
