Now that you have completed basic ASM startup, Keysight recommends you
read the M9514A and M9521A User Guide . That User Guide provides detailed
information for using all of the features of the ASM such as the Status LED,
triggering, the bidirectional ports, etc. To read the User Guide:
1 Insert the AXIe Chassis and Controller Software and Product Information CD
in the host PC. If you do not have the CD or a CD drive on your PC, you can
download the most recent version of the SFP and drivers at
www.keysight.com/find/M9521A
.
2 Select the M9514A menu (or the M9521A menu) and click the M9514A and
M9521A User Guide link to access the document.
Host PC/Chassis Interface Topics
This section describes a number of host PC/ASM interface topics that may be of
assistance in establishing a connection between the host PC and the ASM.
Unless otherwise noted, these topics relate to interfacing to the ASM itself, not
to other modules in the chassis slots.
1 If you are using an embedded controller such as the Keysight M9536A,
communication with the ASM is through the chassis backplane; external PCIe
and Ethernet connections from the embedded controller to chassis are not
required.
2 If you are using an external desktop or rackmount PC as the host PC, you will
need to install a compatible PCIe Cable Adapter in the PC.
The following table lists compatible Keysight adapters and cable:
With the Keysight M9536A Embedded Controller installed in the
AXIe chassis, do not connect any PCIe cables to the PCIe 1 or PCIe 2
connectors on the ASM.
If no embedded controller is installed in the chassis, PCIe1
connector is automatically configured as Upstream for connection to
an external computer.
