NOTE: After you power on a power supply, wait for at least 60 seconds before you turn it off.
After you power off a power supply, wait for at least 60 seconds before you turn it back on.
If the system is completely powered off when you turn on a power supply, the external Routing
Engine boots as the power supply completes its startup sequence.
After you power on a power supply, it can take up to 60 seconds for status indicators such as
power supply LEDs and the show chassis operational mode CLI command display to indicate
that the power supply is functioning normally. Ignore any error indicators that appear during the
first 60 seconds.

Interconnecting XRE200 External Routing Engines
Connect XRE200 External Routing Engines to each other in an EX8200 Virtual Chassis topology to provide
external Routing Engine redundancy.
To connect an XRE200 External Routing Engine to another XRE200 External Routing Engine:
1. Locate a cable that can be used to connect an XRE200 External Routing Engine to another XRE200
External Routing Engine. See “Cables Connecting the XRE200 External Routing Engine to XRE200
External Routing Engines and EX8200 Switches” on page 60 .
2. Connect one end of the cable to any Virtual Chassis port (VCP) on the XRE200 External Routing Engine.
The VCPs on an XRE200 External Routing Engine include the built-in port 0 and ports 0 through 3 on
any Virtual Chassis Control Interface (VCCI) module.
If you are interconnecting two XRE200 External Routing Engines using the SFP optical transceivers,
follow the instructions in Connect a Fiber-Optic Cable for inserting the optical transceiver into the SFP
port.
3. Connect the other end of that cable to a VCP on the other external Routing Engine. See
Figure 23 on page 79 .
