Troubleshooting the PTX5000 Power Distribution Units

IN THIS SECTION

Problem

Description

The following alarms and LEDs indicate a problem with the power system during normal operations:

•

Table 7

lists alarms for the PDUs.

•

Table 8

lists abnormal LED states for the PDUs.

Solution

1. Verify that the source customer-site circuit breaker has the proper current rating. See

Power Electrical Safety Guidelines" on page 695

"PTX5000 AC Power Electrical Safety

Guidelines" on page 692

.

2. Verify that the power feeds are properly distributed.

• All inputs on a DC PDU in slot PDU0 must be powered by dedicated power feeds derived from

feed A, and all inputs on a DC PDU in slot PDU1 must be powered by dedicated power feeds
derived from feed B. This configuration provides the commonly deployed A/B feed redundancy
for the system.

• The AC power cord on an AC power supply in slot PDU0 must be powered by a dedicated power

feed derived from feed A, and The AC power cord on an AC power supply in slot PDU1 must be
powered by dedicated power feeds derived from feed B. This configuration provides the
commonly deployed A/B feed redundancy for the system.

3. Issue the

show chassis alarms

command to check for PDU alarms. See

Table 7

.
