J.5) Exporting quantitative EDS data
J.5.1) Choice of data to export
You can choose the data to be exported under the menu “Edit > Properties”, under the tab
“Quant Results”. Below are the key entries to consider in this tab (in
bold are the most
important entries
, in normal are the optional ones, and
in small italic are the rarely used ones
)…
•
Line Type
•
Net Counts, Net Error: Background corrected peak intensity (with error).
•
Intensity, Intensity Error: Total peak intensity (peak and background, with error).
•
Source…
•
K-ratio, K-ratio Error: Ratio of measured net intensity over standard net intensity.
•
Z, A, F, and ZAF factor: matrix correction factors.
•
K-factor: Calculated K-ratio assuming a pure element standard.
•
Weight-%, Weight-% Error:
Results expressed as element weight-%.
•
Normalized…: Data normalized to 100% (you should not consider this, unless you have a good reason
for that.
•
Atom %, Atom % Error: atomic proportion assuming a total of 100 atoms.
•
Chemical Formula:
List of the compounds name (= oxide name).
•
Compound %:
Results expressed as oxide weight-%.
•
Number of Cations:
Atomic proportion from the oxygen normalisation
•
Standard Name: Name of the standard file used (can be useful for your record).
On the top-right part of the Properties window, you can set the number of decimal place
(usually left at 1) and the confidence level for the error (usually set to 2 sigma).
To validate your change, click “Apply” and then “Close”.
Do NOT change anything else in
the “Properties” window!
J.5.2) Exporting a single Spectrum
To export quantitative analysis from single spectrum:
•
Select the mode “Spectrum”.
•
Click on menu “Batch Processing > Quant Analysis…”.
•
Select all EMSA files to be treated, using CTRL to select individual files or SHIFT to
select continuous series of files, and click “OK”.
•
Choose a filename and location for the result file to be created.
•
Click “Save”. A CSV file with all quantitative data for the selected EMSA file is created.
J.5.3) Exporting a Point & Shoot analysis
To export quantitative analysis from a series of “Point & Shoot” analyses:
•
Select the mode “Point & Shoot”.
•
Click on menu “Batch Processing > Point & Shoot Analysis…”.
•
Select all P&S analysis in the new window (you must click on each individual entry to
be exported) and click “OK”.
•
Choose a filename and location for the result file to be created.
