Before First Use
Check if the voltage rating on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage.
•
Remove any sticker or protective cover from the soleplate before using the iron for the first
time.
•
When using the steam function for the first time, do not direct the steam towards the laundry,
as there could be debris from the steam vents. During the first time use the steam iron on a
piece of a damp cloth to remove any residue on the soleplate.
•
It is normal for a small amount of smoke to be produced during the first use. This will cease
after a short while.
Filling the Water Tank
•
Always remove the mains plug from the electrical outlet before filing the tank with water.
•
Set the steam knob to position “
”=0 dry ironing and the temperature control dial to “min”.
•
Open the water filling inlet cover, place the iron on its heel, tilt forward approximately at 45° on
a flat dry surface and pour water slowly into the filling hole until the maximum water level is
reached.
•
Never fill the tank beyond the MAX indication.
NOTE
: Tap water can be used (See: “A Special Note on Water”).
•
Push firmly to close the water filling inlet cover.
•
During the ironing process, always ensure that there is sufficient water in the water tank.
•
Do not store the iron with water in the tank.
A Special Note on Water
• It is advisable to use distilled water with this appliance.
• Do not use chemical additives, scented substances or decalcifies.
• Do not use chemically de-limed or perfumed water.
• To guarantee the maximum life time of your steam iron:
- Never use vinegar, starch or chemically descaled water.
- The harder the water the more the iron should be self-cleaned (see section “Maintenance”).
