Fire Fighting Measures Continued

Vapors are heavier than air and may travel to a source of ignition and flashback. Avoid high temperatures and static
charges. Use water spay to cool containers

Extinguishing Media:

Water spray or fog, “alcohol” foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Fire Fighting Instructions:

Use water spray to cool containers. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Wear full protective equipment.
Water runoff should be contained and neutralized prior to release.

Safeguards: (Personnel)

Note: Review FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and HANDLING (Personnel) sections before proceeding with clean-
up. Use appropriate PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT during clean-up.

Ventilate area, especially low or enclosed places where heavy vapors might collect. Remove open flame. Evacuate
enclosed spaces until gas is dispersed. Keep upwind.

Section 7 – Handling and Storage

Handling:

Avoid breathing vapors or mist. Avoid contact with eyes or skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not
puncture or drop cylinders, expose them to open flame or excessive heat. Follow standard safety precautions for
handling and use of compressed gas cylinders. Use with sufficient ventilation to keep employee exposure below
recommended limits.

Do not mix with air above atmospheric pressure for leak testing or any other purpose.

Keep away from sparks, flames and hot glowing surfaces.

Storage:

Store in a clean, cool, well ventilated dry area of low fire risk and out of direct sunlight. Protect cylinder and its
fittings from physical damage as with any gas cylinder.
