You can check the
TA
box on the 730 soft-
ware screen to in-
itiate a TA flag, the
flag is then raised
immediately
when
the
WRITE
button is
clicked. To clear the flag when the announcement is finished,
uncheck the TA box and click:
WRITE
once again.
TA Timeout
The 730 is equipped with a
built-in timer that limits the
maximum period that a TA
flag may be continuously
transmitted. This guards
against a short-circuit in a
hardwired-switch installation, or the possibility that a software
‘turn-off’ command is not received at the end the TA an-
nouncement. TA may be set to time out after a period of up to
255 seconds, with the 30-second factory-default value a typical
setting. The TA timeout is set in the
TA Time
box; a Help bal-
loon gives additional hints.
Once the TA has timed-out, the TA function is reset and has to
be re-initiated to proceed with another announcement.
CT - CLOCK TIME AND DATE
The 730 Encoder gives full support to the RDS/RBDS timekeep-
ing function. As described on Page 21, the time and date may
be set manually in Menus 58 and 59. Even though these are set
to local time, the proper offset from Universal Coordinated
time (UTC) must be entered in Menu 60 to ensure timekeeping
accuracy.
The CT function is enabled from
the front panel through Menu 62,
or by selecting one of the options
on the software screen as shown
here.
When the encoder has access to
the Internet, either with a direct
connection or through a local net-
work that it is connected to, timekeeping will be automatic and
invariably accurate. But when Internet access is not available,
time from the controlling computer’s internal real time clock
may be used to set the encoder’s internal timekeeping utility.
The encoder’s internal clock can maintain reasonably good ac-
curacy once the time and date are manually set. When
Clock-
Manual
is selected, clicking the
WRITE
button uploads the time,
date and UTC offset from the computer’s clock.
