Alternate Method Of Performing Ink Regulator Maintenance

Procedure Without a Pressure Gauge

Turn the multimeter to DC voltage.

Install a NEW can of conditioner into the receiver (ink may be used, but conditioner is preferred).

Power up the system and wait until the menu appears.

Check the multimeter: it should be reading a value from 6 to 8 volts DC (1 VDC = 1 PSIG).

Unplug the ink line from the printhead.

Plug the ink line into an effluent bottle (5750-503).

Remove the regulator adjustment locking screw, and pull the pressure adjustment knob into the unlocked
position.

Rotate the pressure adjustment knob clockwise until it stops, then counterclockwise until it stops. Repeat
six to twelve times.

Disconnect the ink line from the effluent bottle and re-connect it to the printhead.

Turn the ink regulator off (completely counter-clockwise).

Attach a pressure gauge to the ink outlet (male quick-disconnect). The gauge must be level with the
printhead for accurate measurements.

Increase the regulator until the multimeter reads 7.0 VDC (nominal operating pressure).

NOTE:

The ink regulator pressure setting should always be adjusted by turning the pressure adjustment

knob clockwise (increasing pressure). Never set the regulator pressure by turning the knob
counterclockwise (decreasing pressure). If the regulator was adjusted above desired setting, turn the
regulator knob fully counterclockwise until it stops and purge the printhead to relieve internal pressure.
Then, slowly open the regulator by turning it clockwise until the desired pressure has been achieved.

Purge the printhead three times.

Check the pressure reading indicated on the multimeter. The pressure should not deviate more than .50
PSIG from the set pressure. If the deviation is more than .50 PSIG, reset the pressure per steps 13
through 17.

Disconnect the multimeter.

Push the adjustment knob into the locked position.
