Ink Regulator Maintenance Procedure

Purge the printhead three times.

Check the pressure reading indicated on the gauge. The pressure should not deviate more than
.50 PSIG from the set pressure. If the deviation is more than .50 PSIG, reset the pressure per
steps 10 through 13.

Disconnect the pressure gauge.

Push the adjustment knob into the locked position.

Reinstall the adjustment locking screw. (Recommended torque = 16in-lbs.)

CAUTION:

Observe the following precautions while using and cleaning the ink

pressure gauge:

Do not probe into the pressure gauge with objects when cleaning. Use the
appropriate conditioner and brush.

Pressure measurements are relative to the height from which they are measured.
When measuring printhead pressure, the gauge must be at the same height as
the printhead.

Do not leave the gauge hanging from the printhead connection for very long. Its
weight will fatigue the fitting, eventually breaking it off and allowing pressurized
ink to flow freely from the head.

The gauge should be calibrated periodically for accuracy. This should be done at
least once per year, or whenever it has been dropped.

Alternate Method Of Performing Ink Regulator Maintenance
Procedure Without a Pressure Gauge

If a Pressure Gauge is unavailable, the following procedure describes how to perform the Ink Regulator
Maintenance Procedure using a Multimeter.

Remove the printhead cover to access the printhead driver board (located under the printhead cover).

Attach the

black

lead of the multimeter to the bare wire of the cable running from the CPU board to the

driver board (see illustration below).

Attach the

red

lead of the multimeter to TP3 on the driver board.
