Printhead Preload Adjustment

Clean the front plate with a clean wipe
and maintenance spray.

Purge the printhead three times.

Clean and wipe the front plate again.

WARNING: To avoid electrical shock,
disconnect power from the controller
before servicing the printhead.

Identify the orifice that is leaking from
the illustration at right.

Remove the bottom printhead cover by
removing the six Phillips-head screws.

Use the diagram at right to locate the
corresponding adjustment nut for the
leaking orifice.

Using the preload adjustment tool,
SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY
turn
the red adjustment nut
COUNTERCLOCKWISE
approximately 1/8 turn to ADD
additional pressure to the solenoid.
CAUTION: Excessive preload will damage the printhead.

Connect power to the printhead.

Purge the printhead three times.

Clean and wipe the front plate again.

If no static leakage is observed, replace the printhead cover. If the printhead continues to leak,
repeat the adjustment procedure.

Replace the bottom printhead cover by tightening the six fasteners with a torque wrench.
(Recommended torque = 6 in-lbs.)
