Module IP Subnet Mask
In conjunction with the IP Address a netmask must be configured to allow access to the appropriate node on
the subnet. By default this is set to a value of 255.255.255.0.
Programming an IP Netmask requires knowledge of the network and subnet that the system controller will be
connected to. ALWAYS consult the network or system administrator before programming these values.
Subnet
255.255.255.000
To modify the subnet mask use the decimal entry from (000 to 255), use the keypad as explained in section
Entering Decimal Numbers in the Protege System Controller Reference Manual and press [ENTER].
Module IP Gateway
In conjunction with the IP Address a gateway can be configured to allow access to a router for external
communications beyond the subnet to which the reader expander is connected. By default this is set to a value
of 0.0.0.0 to prevent any external communication.
Programming a, IP Gateway requires knowledge of the network and subnet that the system controller will be
connected to. ALWAYS consult the network or system administrator before programming these values.
Gateway
000.000.000.000
To modify the IP gateway use the decimal entry from (000 to 255), use the keypad as explained in section
Entering Decimal Numbers in the Protege System Controller Reference Manual and press [ENTER].
Controller IP Address
If the reader expander has been configured to connect to the Protege System Controller using a static IP
address then this IP address of the Controller must be entered in this field. If a dynamic connection is being
used the controller’s IP address can be confirmed by viewing this field.

192.168.001.002
To modify the IP address use the decimal entry from (000 to 255), use the keypad as explained in section
Entering Decimal Numbers in the Protege System Controller Reference Manual and press [ENTER].

Web Programming
The Protege Reader Expander can be programmed using an internal web interface. To access this, open a web
browser (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox) and type the IP address of the module into the address bar.

When attempting to view the webpage of the Reader Expander from a network that uses a Proxy
Server, ensure the browsers connections options recognise local addresses.
