4.2. WIGHT AND EMPTY BALANCE DETERMINATION
Depending on the quantity of options and the configuration of the Ventura, there may be variations
in the empty weight. It is necessary to perform this measurement before the first flight and whenever
the configuration and the installed accessories are changed. To calculate the empty center of gravity,
use the following criterion and report the values calculated directly in the tables below:
- The aircraft must be weighed with all the accessories and engine fluids, but without fuel.
(NOTE: the fuel must be carefully drained);
- Place the aircraft in horizontal flight attitude. The reference to align the aircraft on the horizon
coincides with the upper side of the fuselage, behind the wing;
- Place the aircraft on three scales, one for each wheel. Check that the leaf spring is not
compressed by moving the aircraft back and forward;
- Take note of the weights indicated by the scales in the following order: nose gear W1, main
landing gear left wheel W2, main landing gear right wheel W3;
- Vertically project with a plumb line the wing leading edge position on the floor, then measure
from this point the distance of the nose gear DF and the distance of the main landing gear
DR;
- Fill out the following table and calculate the resulting moment with the formula. The value in
the table are shown in
Figure 6

Pay attention: by using the formula, the measure units
must be the same of the table and must be coherent.
