1. List of messages
The following are a list of messages and locations of "Notes" throughout this manual.
1.1 DANGER
No description with the mark DANGER in this manual.
1.2 WARNING
No description with the mark WARNING in this manual except for Safety
Precautions(this section).
1.3 CAUTION
The table below shows contents with the mark CAUTION and section numbers
described in this manual except for Safety Precautions(this section).
Contnets of CAUTION Section
Do not press the Power switch with force. Your nails may get caught in the gap
between the switch and the cover. 3-2
When setting document, be careful not to cut your finger with the edge of the sheet. 3-10, 3-11, 3-12
When scanning long paper sheets over 18 inches (458 mm), use the Extension Plates
and do not touch papers during continuous scan mode. Or it may cause cutting your

There are glass or plastic parts in the device. If you use it while damaging or
deforming, it’s very dangerous. If you see damaged or deformed parts, you contact
the service personnel. 4-2
Do not use flammable sprays for cleaning. The gas which comes out of sprays may
stagnate in the device, and may ignite at the time of power-on. 4-2
Do not clean the inside of the device with your bare hands. Use a piece of gauze to
protect your hands and fingers when cleaning the inside of the device, where glass
plate and sharp materials exist. 4-5
When the Main Unit and/or Top Unit are open, hands and objects can be caught by
the Main Unit and/or Top Unit when the Main Unit and/or Top Unit close unexpectedly,
Make sure you hold the Main Unit and/or with your hand while you work. 4-17
Do not shake or disassemble ink cartridge. If you do, ink may be scattered, entering
eyes and getting attached to skin and cloths.
If ink should enter eyes or be swallowed by mistake, wash the eyes or gargle and
contact the nearest medical service. 4-20
